2016 Toyota Highlander # 3 piston

Changed the plugs on my Toyota 3.5 v6 and noticed only one of the pistons looks different. Any idea why?

Looked like below.

Have you owned it since new? It might be an aftermarket piston, or an OEM piston from a different version of that engine.

Picture is worth 1000 words here...

Only guess would be that its a reman engine and they only changed one piston, which wouldn't be un heard of.

Sorta doubt its a Diamond though....

Given the configuration of a modern high compression OHC 4-valve engine, there's not a lot of room for variation in piston top design...is there?

It's the original engine. Just Stange that one is different.
