Not to mention on our 6 we get 28-29MPG with mixed driving. more, city than hwy. I get about 400 miles a tank on it each fill up. I am sure 500 could be doable with HWY only.

That is because MTXs are only offered on packages w/ limited options. The nice packages don't have the MTX to choose from. Mazda said they will start offering the MTX in the nice trims. If it happens, I'm sure you'll see sales increase, but probably not drastically.

Ford better get on the ball and make some improvements to the Focus. 160hp and 5-speeds is no longer going to cut it in this segment.

I agree with you that it would be nice to have that engine transmission combination in the Mazda 3. Heck, it's the combination I want in the CX-5.

FWIW, we are on our 4th Mazda and looking at a 5th. I started with an 07 Mazda 3 GT with the 2.3, then to an 06 MX5 GT, now have a 2010 Mazda 3 GT trim fully loaded with every single option that came that year. Bought it as a 3 yr old lease turn in. Incredible value when buying as a CPO. We also have a 2012 Mazda 2. Another car thats incredible to drive for what it is in its class.
I would buy their products again as long as they keep the hits coming. Torn between a new 6 or new 3 hatch with the 2.5.
