Ive liked just about every gen of Civic since I started driving in the early 90's. (Owned 2 Civic Del Sols) But this latest generation Civic from Honda is Ugly!!imo The mpg ratings are awsome, but that is still an UGLY car, in every trim again imo. (not trying to tick anyone off here) Also worth noting you cant get a Sedan,or Coupe in a manual unless its a entry level trims. It looks like the previous gen Civic mated with a 90's Saturn SC2 and pooped out this unsightly rice burner

I can officialy cross off the Civic from my short list of next car to buy. Looks like it will be a Golf/Focus hatch/ or Wrangler for me in a couple years.

Is this a new body style? They look like the 2011s.

I agree that a lot of new car styling seems inpsired by the swish of Zorro's sword. In particular I don't get why Toyota headlights seem determined to ooze across the fender up toward the A-pillar.

I like the new Civic better than the 2011 models. The styling is just a little softer, a little more rounded. I really like the new front end treatment. It's not a huge change from before, but I think it's a classier looking car overall.

... and just when I started liking the previous generation...

Honda is the master of lasting love... they grow on you no matter how ugly they are at first.

looks just like every other friggin civic, I don't see a difference.
don't know what you mean either by a '90's SC2; almost all saturns were "90's"- 1st:1993, last:2002
and I think they looked better than this civic (which isn't saying much)

According to the Honda site you can get the 5 speed manual on the LX sedan and the EX coupe without navigation so it's not quite as bad as "enty level" only (which I interpret to mean the stripped DX).

Might be tough finding one on dealer lots though.

Too bad they didn't offer the HF as a two door coupe with taller gearing for max gas mileage. Honda was lazy not to redesign the entire car from the 2011 model.

Ehhh, yeah your probably right, I was probably too quick to bash on the looks. Its like a parent with an ugly child, they'll ahways think they're ugly child is beautiful. Ive been a Civic fan my entire driving life, this Gen Im sure will grown on me too. Thats cool that the EX coupe still comes in manual. I noticed the automatic gets 39mpg, compared to the 36 of the manual (highway)

I don't know what's wrong with Honda, but their designs have gone to [censored] over the last several years. It just keeps getting worse and worse across their line-up.

The local dealer had 2 on the lot that had just come in, and the one was unlocked (an LX). The interior is just awful, a sea of cheap looking and feeling plastic, it reminds me of a first gen Caliber. The radio was the worst, looked straight out of the 80's, and what is up with the seek button being the biggest button on the entire dashboard?

There is no reason to. If the platform and existing powertrains are already good, small tweaks can make the vehicle more competitive at a far lower cost. This is exactly what Honda did this time-- and the strategy is effective because it is one of the lowest priced cars in the segment.

I must say I originaly jumped in to early to give my opinion, that noone really cares about in the first place

But after letting it digest for a day, I will say the coupe is pretty sharp, the sedan is just ugly, like it has no soul. I guess Civic coupe, will join my shortlist of VW Golf, Ford Focus Hatchback for next vehicle.

Well, if you come to the conclusion that pretty much any of the economy cars will do for commuting duty, then you might as well get the one you like the looks of.
I'd take a silver or blue SI sedan.

If you are buying a Mazda3 based on looks, you are probably missing the Y chromosone.

I don't know...The new Civic isn't bad. I'm not rushing out to buy one though. Took awhile for the last generation to grow on me and I still don't like the sedan that much.
Looks like we still don't get the hatchback.

It's kinda weird looking anyway. Got sort of an Eagle Vision thing going on with the front bumper. (or maybe 4th gen Prelude....I forgot which one came first)
