57348 is the chrome version.

51348 is a nominal 21 micron filter (like the standard HD Sportster filter) and would work also.

Would y'all say the 5 micron would be too restrictive on oil flow since the standard factory HD filter is a 21 micron?
Also, since this will be the 1st oil change at 300 miles, would it be better to just go with conventional oil again & then change to synthetic on the next oil change??

I'd stay with conventional below 1000 miles but that's just me. I would also use only the HD branded filter, for warranty peace of mind.

the difference between todays syn oils and top end conventions isn't enough to make a meaningfull difference.

Ok I picked up 6 quarts of Valvoline 4-Stroke Motorcycle Conventional 20W50 oil from Walmart. Only $3.97 each. What a deal! Then drove to my local O'reilly's Auto Parts for a WIX 57148 oil filter. Got the filter for free! I went to go pay for it & the parts guy asked me if I brought the old filter. I was like why?? He said if I brought one in our county is having an exchange program & I can get any oil filter up to $15 for it. So I was like [censored] hold on & ran out to my work truck. All I had were some used Ingersoll Rand compressor oil filters (huge) from a PM service I did last Friday, but luckily the guy was cool & took it anyway

So...you must have some actual EVIDENCE of that, then?

^^^My Harley runs fairly cool (considering it's air-cooled) and doesn't seem to be as hard on oil as bikes with the tranny using the same oil as the engine.

The bike hasn't been ridden in a while. Be the 1st time I will ride it myself. I know the engine should be warm, but I'm doing the tranny as well, so how many miles should I ride around before I dump out the engine & primary oils?
