2011 Suzuki Kizashi 2.4L (1st Oil Change)

Just changed my oil in the vehicle. Did not want to go farther than the 6,747 miles on the factory fill. My driving style, usage met the normal maintenance schedule. Suzuki recommended a change of oil and filter at 7,500. I just did not want to leave it in any longer. I called Suzuki America to find out if the factory fill was synthetic, synthetic blend, or dino. No help. Would anyone know what may have been in there? Better safe than sorry. I look forward to learning a lot from the experts on the forum.

P.S. used Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30 with Napa Gold(Wix)filter.

Sounds like a good plan. What oil and filter did you end up running? Doesnt matter now, but longer term if you really like the car, Id say go for pennzoil platinum, castrol edge/syntec or M1.

And write us a post in the vehicle section to review the car. I saw one at the auto show and was intrigued. They really made it out to be a super high quality, well thought out vehicle.

I have a suzuki little 4dr hatchback "sportback" or something like this as a rental car. Good little car, I like it. The 6AT programming is horrible but all else is great.

Have you found the AT in your car to bog the engine a lot and get confused when changing gears sometimes?

Anyway, that's for the review if you care to give one (with pictures).

whoops, you edited before I was done typing. Good choice!!! I wouldnt worry about the FF now that youre on to better stuff!

I heard little (I guess the public as well) about this vehicle. What little I have heard is that it is a great vehicle and would like to know what you think.

BTW. Stay away from the Castrol Edge FST (Gold Bottle), I am disappointed in the specs for it as compared to the Edge SM. My Altima is in great shape mechanically and it seems to run lousy on this oil. A waste of $$ IMO. Stick with exactly what you are using or PP/M1. I think BP is slapping us in the face with lousier oil to make up for the money lost in the spill.

PS: JHZR2, no offense in any way. I probably should not talk about that here, but I figured I would save him a waste of money for that oil. The (Edge syntec black bottle seems fine).

Please post photos of you car. I've been a fan of the Kizashi since I first laid eyes on it.


I would stick with your full syn. regiment. It's the best thing for the car.
 
This car is kind of a hidden little gem- Not much attention compared to the Halo level Hyundai Sonata -Yet Great improvements in the driving dynamics and quality materials etc etc

If only I could find one in manual form...
 
This car call for 30-weight, or 20-weight?

Folks bought a SX/4 recently, nice little car. I told them to look at the Kizashi, but that was 'more car' than they wanted...

I love the 6sp manual in my Jetta 2.0T!

I had a Suzukiin my stable for over the past 10 years 'till now. Great cars IMO.

First welcome on board!

Second, nice car! Very sharp looking design.

As for the FF, more than likely conventional I would think. What are the requirements in the manual? You could ask the dealer what they use for a service fill. I don't really see a manufacturer putting synthetic in at the factory and not specing it for use after.
 
The manual calls for 5w-30. Thanks for the "welcome" guys.I did call Suzuki America to ask about factory fill and their recommendations. They said, "we recommend whatever the engineers spec. They recommend that you use a certified 5w-30 motor oil." Okay, read the manual. The spec is a certified 5w-30 motor oil.So, out with the FF and in with the Pennzoil Ultra and Napa (Gold)(Wix) filter. I posted a review for the vehicle in the "Cars" forum for those that would like to hear about it.

This car generally gets very good reviews. The challenge is that there in very little in the way of a dealer network and total sales have been very small.
 
It gets a good review by me. I posted the review at the request of another forum member. Agreed. Dealer network stinks. Luckily, there is one close to my home if need be.

I just don't know how I would ever live without a manual. Thank God people like Porsche, BMW, Cadillac, Lotus etc still believe in the manual transmission.
