Anybody know of the sludger 2.2L Camry motors being recalled? I would LOVE a new motor....

Sure I would be happy to get a new engine, but cheering for Honda, where any domestic brand would get crucified, shows how much the fan base can overlook and still cheer on.

i would ask for a different bottle of wine and a less sour grapes vintage.

How often do domestic really any manufacturers have warranties past 100k miles on odd ball issues like these. The cheering for Honda is more on addressing the issue and moving on, instead of ostrich approach like most take on.

Update : Got the car back yesterday. I paid $40 for them to have a new thermostat put it while everything was disassembled so I only paid for the part itself, no labor. So far it's been driving great. I hope it lasts another 100k miles!

I'll probably float between PP,PUP or Mobil 1.

Once again Honda steps up to the plate and hits a home run. They look for ways to help their customers rather than bail on them.

I can't believe they replaced this engine no charge. My Father had a 2000 TL that the original transmission died at 58k and was replaced under warranty, but when that one died at 98k they refused to help. Maybe they've become more generous lately.

I don't think generosity had anything to due with it. But rather that the problem has been well documented with multiple evidence across a large number of vehicles. I would suspect if Honda did not extend the warranty and replace the engine on a case by case basis that eventually a class action lawsuit would have forced them to replace a lot more engines.

Out of curiosity , what failed on the transmission the first time? What caused it to fail a second time? I find failures interesting and always like to dig into the details to see what can be learned.
