I want to swap out the passenger-side hydraulic motor mount due to excessive vibration and rattling, which I suspect is due to the mount being torn or worn. Unfortunately, I suspect the previous owner never washed the car once in the 60k miles he owned it, because the entire engine compartment is full of corrosion. There are still no leaks and no painted surfaces are rusted (surprisingly,) but fasteners, tubing, etc. all show signs of corrosion. I'm worried that:
1. Everything will be rust-welded together. I plan to apply Deep Creep as much as possible beforehand, and I'll have a breaker bar, but that leads me to concern # 2
2. Everything is degraded to the point where threads may be stripped and heads will be rounded. I plan to use good sockets and use extreme caution while removing parts
Any suggestions would be great, even if you think they might seem more like common sense, I'd still appreciate any help you're willing to offer.
Also, with the above in mind, what would you suggest?:
1. If all fasteners come out easy, re-use and don't worry about it.
2. Purchase all new OEM fasteners for ~ $15 (add $10 with shipping and handling)
3. Purchase all new non-OEM fasteners (haven't looked up prices, but I'd guess cheaper. The only issue here, is whether Honda uses some unusual lengths for fasteners.
Thanks!
