I have Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30 in my 2006 Acura right now because it was on clearance at Home Depot and because in a California summer I don't think it has any real disadvantage compared to the recommended 5W-30. I also run 10W-30 in our older vehicles including a 1989 Ford F150 and a 1993 Volvo 240, although the Volvo has Valvoline Synpower 5W-40 in it for this summer thanks again to a great sale (free after rebate some time back). For mild Nor. California weather it really would be a fine choice anytime, but price being equal I buy 5W-30.

Ah the joy of living in California... I digress.

10w30 is recommended in 07 mitsu outlander only if temps are 38 degree celsius (100 Fahrenheit) which is probably few days in a year where I live. So yeah.. I am stuck with 5w20.

Hi All!!

Been lurking in the shadows for the past couple of years.

I use 10W-30 Havaoline in my 02 Pontiac GTP because the oil cap specs it. I use 5W-30 in everyting else.

You mean, "recommended" grade, right? Some 5-30's hold viscocity better than some 10-30's...a good 5-30 might be a better choice, unless you have almost no cool starts.

Before BITOG i ran it in all my cars now i use 5w30 since
it protects as good or better in all conditions, and maybe
saving a tad on gas at the same time...

I don't normally run 10w-30, but now that summer is fast approaching I don't mind the 10w-- the sale at Big Lots was too good to pass up..

So the 2007 Chevy Aveo gets it's first fill (aside from factory fill) along with my 2001 Nissan Frontier S/C with Havoline Synthetic 10w-30.
