2007 Ford Focus PS Fluid MERCON® Multi-Purpose ATF XT-2-QDX

I am currently changing out a PS pump on a 2007 Ford Focus.

Specification calls for "MERCON Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX". Can MERCON V be used for this?

I found this post (dealing with manual transmission fluids) referencing MERCON and XT-2-QDX and it looks to not be the same :

I've used Mercon V in many Ford power steering systems that called for Mercon or even Type F.

There's no problem, and I think there's a TSB where Ford says to use Mercon V in power steering systems that called for Mercon.

If you really want to use the obsolete factory-specified fluid, any "Dex/Merc" fluid will be fine.

Yes, use MERCON V. Any branded product that meets the XT-5-QMC spec will be adequate.

The XT-2-QDX was Mercon ATF which was replaced my Mercon V for most applications. Use anything that says for Mercon V and sleep well at night.
