I agree. No big deal but for my attention to detail it didn't really bear any fruit. I think I could have ran 10k OCIs on syn blend and gotten these same results.

At least I can try to test out full syns and see if they can indeed reverse deposits. I'll probably do Mobil1 or Mag1 0W20/5W20 when I get to that point.

It's an engine not a dinner plate. Don't see any sludge. How do you know that the Pennzoil Platinum used for 70,000 miles did not cause at least some of the varnish?

I will bet the farm the varnish is caused by using the blends & conventional oil the last 60K miles! If you want squeaky clean stick with synthetic & don't look back! You get what you pay for in this life!

I don't know that.

here is another 2.3L with 150k miles on it. While it is noticeably cleaner than mine, it does show the same color change pattern.

I have used M1 0-20 at 10K OCIs for several years in my Duratech engines. How do I have less money in my pocket?

The Mobil 1 engine at the bottom of that page looks a heck of a lot better than the 94, or the engine on the 3rd page

Though there was this comedy gold post:

Again.

For a sludge-prone 4.7L, that actually looks pretty decent.

Says Valvoline Synpower, Maxlife, and Pennzoil high mileage. Given the additional detergents in the HM oils, and how easy Honda engines generally are on oil, not really surprising.

I think you are trying to insult me but can you be more clear about what you are insulting me about before I take offense?

Thanks.
