I got a navigator with the 5.4L it says to use syn on the manual. i have been using syntec but i don't see the reason to waste money because i change it every 5000KM. Canadian tire has some Formula one dino on sale its there house brand, should i go for it?

In my opinion...no. The small savings you will see in your wallet is not worth it. Even if you change your oil 4x per year and use Redline, you won't go broke. If you use a synthetic found in a regular auto parts store you will only pay about $6 or less per quart.

Don't be cheap........even if it is a Ford

Syntec does this Navigator and the Corvette you post about belong to your Dad? How much is he willing to spend on oil?

If you're going to change it that soon, then go with a local conventional oil. How long does it take to get 5,000 kms?

Is there any reason you don't extend your OCI with a quality synthetic?

Regardless of the badge on the outside, it's still a Ford motor inside and Motorcraft or any XW-20 meeting the 929 spec should be fine for 5000km changes.
