Ok guys, im going to be changing to mobil 1 in about a few weeks. What i really want to know is should i keep using bosch premium filters, or should i switch back to oem filters?

Can you get the Honda OEM filters made by Filtech at your dealer? When my supply of HAMP filters runs out, I'm gonna swtich back to the Filtechs. -Joe

I'm sure that Bosch is the equal of Honda's. I doubt if anyone here will be able to definitely say one is better. Also I'm not even able to say that a better filter will noticably improve engine life. The most important thing to me is that it has decent filtering ability, good flow characteristics and most important to me is that it is built like a tank. That's why I go with K&N. Knowing that K&N is far from the best in filtering efficiency. I'm not suggesting btw that you switch to K&N.

yea i go with something either than bosch now, thanks to that teardown of the filter. i now use purolator in my honda. good price at 4 dollars.

I just bought three Toyo Roki filters from my honda dealership

You might want to request these the next time you need to buy a filter.

This site has cheap prices for those "Made in Japan" blue Honda filters with the Honda logo on top and the nice silicon anti-drainback valve. They also have made in Japan Denso filters, Advantex filters, made by Denso in Malaysia I believe , Nippon FIlters, and a host of other OEM filters.

thats a good find! can anyone confirm that those oem honda oil filters are made in japan? or is the only way trial and error.

Boyd, I looked and cannot tell, they look like Filtechs. -Joe

be sure and double check the sizes on the bosch if u get it. i got it for my van and i thought it was 3323. well it calls for something alot bigger without a bypass valve. if i only known. just double check.

does anyone have a picture of the honda filtech media inside of the filter? Also, does filtech even make the honda filters for my 2002 honda civic, i had a stock fram on, so im not sure if filtech makes a stock oem filter for my honda.

Hondaguy, unfortunately, I do not have a picture of the insides of the Filtech. Filtech does make the filter for your Civic, just specify "Filtech" when at the dealer parts counter. -Joe

Here's a review thats been floating around that dissects the Canandian, Japanese and USA made Honda filters. According to the reviewer, the FILTECH Honda filter looked indentical to the Toyo Roki except he says the filtering material is fuzzier. Here's the link: NTPOG Oil Filter Review.

Seem as though the fuzzy side would be first to get hit with oil, so I dont know if that should be anything to worry about as long as it doesnt escape out. Dunno.. someone please correct me if I'm wrong thx.

The honda dealer i went to had no filtech, just the stock oem made by fram. Although he did give me 2 new plug washers for free, so i guess it was well worth it to go. I picked up another bosch premium, can't go wrong with it.

The Malaysian made "nippon" Honda filters that I get from International Parts seem to work well. Am testing now with Redline and LC.

Recent find for me. Blue and look just like the Jap made ones.

My old testing standard AC PF 1127 have worked well. I haven't confirmed that they are less quality lately since some may be made by Champion labs.

The WIX filter may be a good choice also.
