2001 GMC Jimmy lifter tick

My younger brother has a 2001 jimmy 4.3. It has 145k miles on it. He brought it over to use my garage to change his oil, and I noticed a pretty loud lifter tick. He said it has been doing it for about the last 10k. He has been using GTXHM 5-30. Would it be wise to use a 10-40 in the engine? Or maybe a 5w40 rotella to quite the noise down?

You could try adding marvel mystery oil or switching to a lighter oil because the lifter is probably ticking because it isn't getting enough oil aka because motor might be slugged up or dirty. Thats what we did when my buddys mustang started ticking

You sure its lifter tick? Could be a noisy fuel injector to. Just something to think about
