Does anyone use a larger filter than the factory sized one for the 5.3ltr GM motors?

I use Napa Gold filters and would like a bigger filter but not sure on size.

What number are you using?

I'm using the PF59 or ST3675 on 4.8l V8 (same engine as yours - shorter stroke).

Its the longest and factory filter.

Yeah, I use the 1522, just curious if there is a larger filter or longer to hold more oil, I thought someone told me or I read that there is one.

If there's one bigger than the 1522, then I'm interested too.

My '04 Silverado actually specifies a smaller filter (1042)than the 1522.

However, I use the 1522 on it because (obviously) it is bigger, and I only have to buy one size of filter for both my '04 Silvy and Dad's '00 Sierra.

No problem.

here is the skinny...

The Vortec 5300, or LM7/LM4/L59/L33, is a V8 truck engine. It is a stroked (by 9 mm) version of the Vortec 4800.

Both have a 96.01 mm bore.

Loved mine. Excellent power, very quiet, smooth and excellent MPG.

produced perfect UOAs too! Easy on the oil.
