Hello again and little bored, so I thought I would ask the BITOG members what you remember fondly/loved bout the 1990's. I am in my early 30's so I remember lots of stanley cups mostly (being a Pittsburgher) and steeler and PENGUINS fan. I also remember when AMOCO gas was still around, now I think its BP correct? Does anyone remember any big oil brands or small oil companys that had good/great oil like EXXON SUPERFLO, etc? I remember the blizzard we here in PA got in April 93' Let me know what all of you wonderful members remember good and bad bout the 90's like sports, news, tech, so on.

thank you very much in advance,

Adam Vasbinder

I remember the 1995 SuperBowl when Neil O'Donnell gave the cowgirls the win. My 2nd favorite forum is steeleraddicts.com

I graduated from college in 95 so I have quite a few fond memories from the 90's

It was the decade of the "Seattle" music scene but it seemed like a lot of my favorite local Dallas and Ft Worth bands were getting national exposure. Toadies, Pantera, Rev Horton Heat, Flicker Stick, Drowning Pool, Bowling for Soup, Tripping Daisy, MC 900ft Jesus...etc... (The Nixons and Flaming Lips too but they were from Oklahoma. They came to Dallas to get signed,)

I drank way too much. Probably forgot a lot of the '90s.

You could still buy a sportbike with threaded type valve adjusters and carburetors.

The Corvette ZR-1 had a DOHC 32 valve V8 made by Mercury Marine in Stillwater OK

Yeah, Spazdog, I definitely miss PANTERA, but I do like some SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR. Nice to see Corey Taylor still kickin out music. I was to the ALAMO DOME few times when our ship in Ingleside TX evacuated all crewmen but "essential" (people like me that kept diesel generators and backup main prop engines going). I did not know that bout the Corvette ZR-1 either. You a LONGHORN or AGGIE?

adam

P.S. I was in the Persian Gulf when that idiot killed Daryl Abbott also, man was I p.o'ed!

Dude.

Actually the 90's are when my kids arrived. It's been a blur since. It's also when work stress crept in. I still want out.

LOL!

I'll echo with the music, nothing like that decade! Pearl Jam, STP, Tool, Nirvana, Blink 182, Bush, Dave Matthews Band...I can go on.

Seinfeld, Hockey's rise, Monica Lewinsky and putting around in my Neon.

One band I would like to forget is The Clarks!

Saturn cars.

Rush, "Roll The Bones" CD in '91. One of their very best.

Dream Theater "Images & Words" in '93. Classic hard prog rock.

Started working in a computer career with Novell 3.12, Windows NT 3.5/3.51, and HP-UX 9. The joys of NetWare NFS!!

Caught my 1st & only baseball at a pro game, White Sox.

Prodigy, AOL, Compuserve.

The HOT HOT HOT summer of '95.

Met my wife, bought my first home. Got DirecTV soon after and have been a customer ever since.

Sold my double-bass Neil Peart replica Slingerland kit and sized down to a single-bass Remo kit.

The 90's in Chicago? Da BULLS!!

The 90s are forever painfully seared into my memory as the decade in which I quit on my education. It has haunted me ever since. This May, I begin my attempt at righting that wrong.

The domination of the Chicago Bulls in basketball, MJ's baseball stint, Florida State football beating the everloving snot out of every opponent, and of course freakin' OJ interrupting the NBA Finals in a police chase in the back of a white Ford Bronco!!!

Where in Pittsburgh are you from? I grew up in Hazelwood and have similar memories (my dad worked at the Homestead Works through the early 1980's).

It was amazing how good the Pirates were in the early 1990's or how many AFC championships the Steelers flubbed. I never really liked hockey but did pretend, at least to follow them at the same time. The blizzard of 1993 really was something, I still remember being snowed in for about a week and how 5th Ave and Forbes were completely obstructed with no traffic.
