Hello everyone and I have to ask; as I am a hockey nut/fanatic, is anyone here in the U.S.A or Canada a hockey fan? I love the Penguins, and was hooked on watching hockey at a young age. I still remember in the strike shortened season of 1995 when the NEW JERSEY DEVILS beat the DETROIT RED WINGS 4 games to 0. I was shocked honestly. I never thought I would see the PITTSBURGH PENGUINS win a 3rd stanley cup after the 2008-09 season and disappointing 6 game series end at the MELLON ARENA.

share your thoughts, experiences, memories if you would,

thank you

I don't know if I'm a hockey nut, but I was pretty dang happy when we won gold at the olympics... In southern ontario you end up kind of being a Leafs fan which makes it pretty hard to be hockey fan sometimes.
I like playing pickup a couple times a week too.

I too am a hockey nut. I've only seen one game this year though. Saw the Habs and Kings at the Bell centre in Nov. Great game, Habs won 4 to 1. I am a huge Canadiens fan. Fave memory was back in 93 when the Habs won the cup and I was in Montreal the following week for the Grand Prix race. The Montreal Canadiens did a parade lap of the track with the Stanley Cup. I also ended up on the news that night wearing my Montreal jersey.

Sounds awesome my friend Autobahn88! That would be priceless to see. I remember a lot of the stanley cups as I would rather watch that than the world series or super bowl IMHO

I followed the NHL pretty closely in the early nineties, but I only watch occasionally now. I've only attended one NHL game, but I've attended many WHL games. I still like watching as much of the World Junior Tournament as I can. I've enjoyed that for the last twenty years. Those kids put a lot of heart and effort into it. TSN aired a short clip of me screaming at the camera during their commercials this year. It was filmed at the New Year's Eve Canada/U.S.A. game last year. We had seats right behind the Canada bench. Good time.

I'm not a hockey fanatic, but I always enjoy going to a hockey game. We have a good college hockey team, locally (SUNY Plattsburgh Cardinals), but I've only been to a few pro games. (Too expensive to see games in Montreal)

I watched a lot of hockey on TV when I lived in Montreal ("Hockey Night in Canada" was sort of obligatory).

To have watched the leafs at all in the last ~20 years, you must be a fanatic.

With all the Habs fans in here, I'd rather talk about a night in 1995 when a certain goalie gave up 9

Which goalie you talking about that gave up 9 LS2JSTS? I would love to youtube this subject. Sorry I had to bring this up LS2JSTS, just that Mike Vernon didnt show up to play the DEVILS or he just gave up. I think Osgood or Howard are a heck of a lot better than Vernon was. Anyways, thanks for all the replies guys. LS2JSTS; who do the wings play this week? Penguins have the Islanders at home tomorrow night; then off for all star break, and were hurtin without Malkin, Crosby

Minnesota Wild season ticket holder here. Grew up on the North Stars and still think Norm Green stinks (not the exact chant, but close enough to get it...). Teaching my 3 year old to skate this year. Good times...

We are off till Wed...cant remember who we play.

The goalie was Patrick Roy...a great goalie, second best of all time behind Sawchuk in my book. Google...Roy Montreal last game.

Roy had better days in Montreal for many years before that. He ended up angry and in a position he no longer wanted to be in. I don't really blame him for just not giving a [censored].

My family and I are big Chicago Wolves(AHL)fans. As for the NHL, not much of a Blackhawks fan, but I was shocked to see how many people came out as "fans" when they won the cup. These are people who had never followed hockey before last season, but are now die hard fans. A true fan will be there for a team's ups and downs.

I worked the 4am - noon at the casino in Windsor, Ontario (just across the border from Detroit) around that time. Hours after the Wings lost to the Devils in game 4, we were going around to all of the gaming tables collecting the dealers' tips. Vernon and a few other Wings were sitting at some blackjack tables (again, this is maybe 8 or 10 hours after the end of game 4). As we're wheeling around this massive bag of casino chips Vernon quips to us "Hey, how about you guys toss a few of those over here!" to which a fellow casino dealer whose got more gumption than I have replies "I'd love to, but I'm afraid they'd go through the five hole!" Vernon turned around and got back to his blackjack.

Also, I though Roy gave up 8 to the Wings on his last game as a Hab, but my memory might be foggy there.
