You have to add verbiage to your first post that demonstrates how you know it's counterfeit.
It's definitely a counterfeit, the construction of the guts isn't even close to a Fram made Honda oil filter.
Take a look at the second photo. The instructions printed on the can misspelled the word "GASKET" as "GAASKET" in the 3rd bullet.

GAASKET ? LOL
You had to cut it open first, but your photos show no bypass valve! The spring simply presses the filter element down to the filter base but there's no bypass valve plate so the unfiltered oil goes to the top of the housing, never goes thru the filter pleats, but enters the center tube, and then onto the engine oil gallery where it does its damage.

Seen worse looking filter elements posted. Clearly not the Fram US made fiber endcap A02, no Fram stamped flat spring bypass piece. Most likely off shored coo with coil compression spring. Inlet holes look more hex shaped than rounded off in A02. Should do a burn test on adbv to see if it's really silicone as color would indicate. In addition, A02 cello wrap and OEM type sticker even made 'an attempt' at the '5U' stamped on baseplate of an A02.

As for bypass comment, not enough definition in pic for me to be definitive, but does show 4 marks in dome endcap which would/could indicate holding internal bypass valve spring. (Unless that faked too) I do see a screwdriver in pic, perhaps OP attempted to push it down? Hopefully OP will return to verify one way or the other. I'm going to "speculate", the black area/button shown indicates it does have one.

Curious how much filter cost and what the ebay listing wording says/said? Honda msrp list $9.36, top retail.

Thanks for c&p,

This is why I stopped buying these filters on eBay, especially when my dealer gave me a 20% discount on buying 10+ so each filter and crush washer cost me <$8 and I know it’s legit

Pretty blanket statement. There are many, many reputable ebay vendors - to include authorized dealers and parts distributors. Do your research and you'll be fine.
I used to buy a lot there, but it seems all the good sellers have been run off.

How do you do your research when most reviews are fake? I have left honest, professional, negative reviews, and ebay won't post them - no response, no reason 🤷‍♂️

Fake? How?? You mean they have Chinese people buy stuff and leave + reviews?

Interesting. I know they don't allow instant bad reviews, there is a time limitation of a few days, but there are negative reviews.

Good question. I typically don't rely on the reviews...which can generally be loads of subjective BS. I research the actual companies that have ebay stores. There are several car dealers on there who sell Mopar (and other) parts and reputable aftermarket companies.

For example, I recently bought some running boards for my son's 2019 Frontier. I was most interested in the Tyger Lander boards. They cost about $179.99 from Tyger and the same via Amazon. As it turned out, Tyger Auto has an ebay store, where the same boards were $159.99 with free shipping. The boards came right from the company in a few days. Win.

I also buy a lot of vintage parts from private sellers. As long as they're willing to freely communicate and share photos as requested I have no issues whatsoever.

On the other hand, if you see a case of Mopar oil filters for eight bucks and the ad is full of broken English...yeah, run away. There's admittedly a lot of that on ebay. My point is there are still a lot of good guys out there. Just have to weed out the chaff.
