15-50 OR 20-50 for 1200GS???

Hallo ppl,
I own an R1200GS and i live in Cyprus which is a very warm country during the summer. the temp sometimes reaches 110 F. The past 9 months iam using only Shell semi-synthetic oil for my bike for third time. the BMW dealership here in Cyprus told me that the company recommends 20-50.
my question is, is there any risk of damaging the engine or not?

Should not damage anything. Proper warm up is important.

Many Gold Wing owners have used 20-50 for years.
Most have now gone to Shell Rotella T.
(diesel oil).
Any quality 15-40 or 20-50 should be fine.

20w50 will be fine in that climate. Just let the engine idle for 1-2 minutes on cold morning start up under 50F. In the Summer it is never an issue.
