what do you guys think the difference is like between motul 300v 0w20 and this ASM 0w20? i'm currently on the 300v running a 1NZ-FE. just bought 4qts of the ASM waiting for 50k (km) servicing. not expecting something closely comparable anyway since the 300v is ester based. but then the ASM is like half the price of 300v... sgd60 vs sgd120! my car manual states a lowest recommended grade of 5w30 and 10w30. i've used SLX 0w30, schaeffer7000 10w30 and GC 0w30. previous oil change gathered the courage to go all the way down to 0w20, partly because 300v being a premium oil so i'm comfortable enough. now is to try out this ASM... hope it doesn't do anything negative to the engine...

sidetrack just fyi... sgd60 in singapore can get oils like GC, M1 EP and the likes. RL at about sgd85.

Amsoil excels in extended drain intervals. Motul/RL are more ideal for racing. IMO. Amsoil can be used for racing, but true racing oils don't have detergents. Motul/RL are also more shear stable.

And the oil they put in is worth every penny they charge!!!

I have more of a problem with them touching the car than what oil they provide.

So, what oil should he be using?

Any 5w-20 is going to protect his Mazada and keep it clean.

I just switched to Amsoil 0w-20...very noticeable difference. Purrs oh so smooth, and the engine is significantly quieter.

You were not joking. This is without question the best oil I've used to date. Engine is quiter and more smooth. Same gas as the last oil so that isn't it.
