I was looking at the 10 best Engines for 2005.Wondered how many recommend synthetic over regular petro oil. If it were asked here I think most everybody would use M1 GC Schaffer or Amsoil more often or perhaps a blend at least. The Winners

M1 in all except they left out the best engine-BMW in-line six. I would use GC in that one.

If your talking factory requirement only The Audis and M-B TD require Synthetic.

Best? Who knows? You'll get many opinions.

I know one that beats most of them with conventional or synthetic. The Toyota V8 4.7L engine. Look in the used oil analysis section for this engine and all the stellar reports with both conventional and synthetic.
