The reason is that with more filter area, even on cold start, it will be easier for the pump to push the oil through (less resistance) and it will get there quicker.
What oils do you'all have that have extra detergency? We have Mobil 1 which is a pretty good cleaner, but pricey. Most of us use HDEO's to help clean things. I'm sure you have a goodly selection of HDEO's...
I suspect it is a bit of varnish build-up do to running the factory long OCI's... They are not a good idea in my opinion. Especially for motors that are sensitive to oil supply, etc.
If it is varnish, trying to make it go away can be a real bother. But Mobil 1 will slowly break it down
Hiya
I'm afraid the Peugeot has a paper cartridge type and a plastic housing you fit it into. Not like the screw on types.
What are the detergents like in the Total Quartz 0w30? I assumed they were as good as Mobil. Castrol Edge or Motul could be other options to try on the next OCI. Not sure if I should use a full HDEO in this engine though.
You may be right about the varnish. May take some time, probably why my mechanic is a bit reluctant to swap the tappets yet.
He said give it more time.
Thanks
