No, you've got it the wrong way 'round. Torx Plus fasteners can be used with regular Torx drivers but you lose the extra cam-out protection of Torx Plus and the fit will be a bit loose.

You CANNOT use Torx Plus drivers on Torx fasteners.

Probably just the 3/8" drive size ... never heard of a 3/8" Torx aside from the drive size.
 
If a T50 is to small and a T55 is to big either grind a T55 a little smaller diameter or buy a TP50 torx bit.
http://www.ebay.com Search tp50 or torx plus. Google autopart torx plus SK or OTC if you want a set.
If you own a Chevy purchase a set OTC is a little cheaper than SK or purchase a used set.
Get a full set you will need it eventually.
Vim also makes a good set.
 
Napa or any parts store that sells Lisle should be able to get you a set of Torx Plus.
