Tripod (inner CV joint ) grease ?

Ever get this figured out? Tripod joints dont like moly or other solid EP additives like the outboard joints. GKN who makes many of these joints has a lube available. See link below. https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=6130

best grease for square tube driveshaft?

Something like Honda (motorcycle not car) Moly-60 would be good. It is a paste and has lots (60%) of moly in it. It is designed for drive shafts.

What grease for Slip yoke on 08 Silverado

You want either something like Honda Moly 60 or Krytox. The Honda stuff is very thick with 60% Moly and the Krytox has very few solvents so it won't wash away. The Honda stuff is inexpensive and found at Honda motorcycle dealerships and the Krytox is $$$,$$$,$$$ and hard to find.

patches = lint when oiling exteriors

I don't like flannel patches for that reason. The ones I use are knit cotton made by Southern Bloomer Mfg Co. At least all my larger size patches that are useful for use by hand are knit. The small .22 stuff is flannel because I didn't care.

Does anyone wash and re-use their rags???

I lived in a place once that had the washing machine in the garage and it emptied into a large sink. I would stop up the sink with a rag and let the soapy water draining from the wash cycle (that was just going to go down the drain anyways) soak the rags. Obviously I only did this when I was...

What is The Composition of OEM CV Joint Grease?

The outer joint has more sliding friction while the inner is more of a rolling friction. The inner joints are also subject to less angle than the outer. Having different lubes for each sounds right. This is like what would have been in the inner joint...

    Off-Road CV Grease

I have searched all over and haven't seen much info on CV greases. Off-road is a strange application. They use VW type plunging CV's inboard and outboard, often don't have water-tight boots (sometimes leather or fabric non-rotating and loose on the axle). The CV's operate at large angles, high...

    Best trailer wheel bearing grease

Sta-Lube Marine grease is the easiest to find aluminum based grease that I know of. Just about every auto parts store carries it. Have fun washing it off your hands. This stuff http://www.crcindustries.com/hd/content/prod_detail.aspx?PN=SL3120&S=N

What is The Composition of OEM CV Joint Grease?

Half the time you can't even buy just the grease from dealerships. It just comes in a little pack with the CV boots. They also use different types of grease for inboard (normally Tripod joints) and outboard (normally fixed 6-ball Rezeppa style joint). It is my understanding that you don't need...

    Weapon Shield VOA

So what is the big deal about Chlorinated Paraffin in a gun oil? In engines I have read that it can cause lead bearing wear. In a firearm we call that fouling and want it gone. Is the CP what helps it clean so well? I still haven't ran out of the FP-10 that I bought years ago but was thinking of...

Rear diff oil in 2002 Camaro Z28 question.

The Torsen diff doesn't have clutch packs and so doesn't need a limited slip addative. The Torsen is a Torque Sensing (hence the name) differential. It works based on the friction of the gears against each other. While the synthetic oil will make the R&P last longer the reduced friction will...
