I'm currently running Castrol Syntec 5W40 in my Wife's `03 Golf 2.0. The only reason its in there is because it was free(...it helps having friends who are VW techs ). But I'd much rather have the Valvoline.

The professional mechanic(s) that fix my cars are also my friends & co-workers. They usually only ask for a fraction of what a regular repair shop would charge and I always give `em a little $extra$.

30min....I work @ an auto repair facility and use thier lifts/tools/used oil disposal. During my 1hr lunch-break I can usually pull my car into the shop, do the OC, and still have 30min to actually eat my lunch.

I have to agree with kang on this one. I tried a bottle in my Volvo several weeks ago. The only difference I noticed was a reduction in engine knock while going uphill w/ the AC on. Never again(at least w/o the rebate ).

The Yoko Avid Tourings on my Volvo are 3yrs old and have about 60k miles on them. I haven't measured tread depth recently, but it appears that they'll last another 20k easily. These certainly aren't performance tires, but they are extremely smooth & quiet.

I recently began using Supertech OFs on my Volvo. My motivation was price & availability. I realize that the OE Mann filters are superior, but they also $cost$ twice(at least)as much and are simply too well made for my frequent 3-4k OCIs.

3-4K here as well on my high-mileage Volvo. The car does have a minor, but rather timely, consumption problem. Once I hit 1500mi on an OCI, it will start to eat about 1/4qt every 500mi.
