    Thickest weight oil you used

Mobil1 15w-50 in an m30 powered BMW 535i. She is a "garage queen" so cold starts aren't an issue. I will likely move back to xxw-40 for the next oil change.

Developing Oil Life Calculator, see inside.

Thanks. Since your formula takes tbn into consideration, could I have run about the same oci for the 1989 BMW 535i above with a HDEO such as Delvac 15w40? Thoughts?

Spencer Massey no longer with DSR

According to the internet reports, he made some very inappropriate comments about the new Top Fuel champion at the awards banquet. I wasn't there, but considering the abrupt nature of his dismissal, something must be going on.

    Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 on old BMWs-Opinion?

I own a m30 powered 1989 535i. T6 is a fine choice, but I am running Mobil1 0w-40 without leaks or significant oil consumption. You win with either oil.

Post what you used in your first car.

In 1986, I used nothing but the best for my 1976 Chevy Chevette/ 4spd: Castrol GTX 10w-40 in the winter and 20w-50 in the summer. My father mandated 3k oci with spark plugs after every other oil change. It ran until the shock tower rusted thru. What a great car!

Anybody have any spec`s for super tech?

http://www.mag1.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=ebc23d55-587b-45bd-9904-9f2fa89c0c59 According to other BITOG posts, Warren makes Mag1 and Supertech. If that is the case, the specs above should mirror the Supertech specs.

    Oil recommendation 1989 BMW 535i/M (M30)

Caterham: You're right about the oil pressure gauge. I only have an "idiot light" for oil pressure. Thanks for the advice on the 0w40 Mobil1, it's easy to find and comparatively cheap at Wally World. Many of the UOAs for Mobil1 0w-40 have an oci of about 5k, no problems running this oil 7500?

    Oil recommendation 1989 BMW 535i/M (M30)

I have read a ton of posts, but would still appreciate your thoughts on oil for my baby. She is a E34 535i/5 speed (1 of about 1100 built in the 1989 model year) with the M30 motor with about 160,000 miles. The valve cover was off last month and there was no sludge in slight. She resides in the...

Oil for 2001 Saturn SL with oil consumtion issues

Great car. I owned a 1997 SC1 as well. She burned oil like all of the rest of them do. I used Pennzoil (PYB) to decrease the consumption a bit. It was a great car that was stone reliable. Buy it! http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/images/icons/default/smile.gif
