New Formula for Quaker State Ultimate Durability?

I don't think it's a reformulation, probably just a new label. I think it's the same old great QSUD..

New Formula for Quaker State Ultimate Durability?

ty hokiefyd! I think since it's still ILSAC-GF5 and API SN, I am in the clear as far as being protected to the ACEA A5 level.

New Formula for Quaker State Ultimate Durability?

Thanks dlundblad, couldn't figure out how to post the pic. I figured the QSOD was ok, and I'll continue to use it, since the price is right, but the recommended classification for my KIA Forte5 SX is ACEA A5 or above. This from the owners manual "Engine oil Turbo GDI engine 4.5 l (4.75 US qt.)...

New Formula for Quaker State Ultimate Durability?

I was changing my oil over the weekend and using up some stock from last year when I noticed that the formulations seem different now? Before it met the ACEA A5-02 and now it doesn't? Is this a step back in protection? The bottle on the right is from last year and the bottle on the left I just...

How do people take a UOA sample?

I am sending a sample to Blackstone but was wondering, is there a guideline to UOA sample taking? Do I take it as the oil starts to drain from the pan, after it slows down, near the end, from the filter? How do you guys do it?

Going out on a limb with a new article...

As a guy who used Slick 50 back in the day, I have to agree with EVERYTHING that is said in your article, my last car lasted 338,500 miles with regular 7500 mile synthetic oil changes. Regular maintenance is dull and boring, but not having a car payment for 15 years is anything but!

Are Purolator filters w/ synthetic media worth it?

Thanks for all the replies, I love this site for all the loyalties to the different filter brands. I am/was a big time P1 fan. But the ripping problem is troubling and so I am wanting to move off them until it's sorted out. I doubt I'll buy the Fram, but my next OCI is coming up so I wanted to...

Are Purolator filters w/ synthetic media worth it?

So as I was searching Amazon for the filters I need for my cars, I noticed that there are Purolator Classics L10241, Pure Ones PL10241, and Purolator Synthetic PSL10241 for running synthetic oils and extending the OCI. Given all the Purolator hate on BITOG these days, has anyone tried these...

Is Quaker State Full Synthetic on par with others?

Mostly just $. I like them both, but whose on sale is a big consideration, IF the quality is similar. It's like Fram vs. PureOnes, for the $ I go PureOnes.

    Cops shoot deer with Taser

As a meat eating non-hunter I COMPLETELY approve of these guys freeing the deer. I'm glad no human got hurt and the end result was the deer getting up, after a "What the??!" moment. Kudos to the cops and citizens for using the tools at hand to free the deer. I'd have also approved of them not...

Is Quaker State Full Synthetic on par with others?

I have 2 cars that I usually run to about 7500 miles OCI with Purolator Pure Ones. I have been using Quaker State Full Synthetic that I get on sale at Menard's for $3 AR. I've run the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum before, but is it worth the extra dollars over the Quaker State? Do people know where...

    Bosch 3300 vs. Purolator PL10241

Yeah, I'll keep the mileage to a minimum and go get a filter tomorrow to replace it. I can't find my receipt so of course I don't have a leg to stand on with the store. sigh... The filter placement is at the front of the engine and tilted maybe a slight downward angle. On my ramps its sort of...
