Unilever kills the iconic Breyers Ice Cream brand!

never much cared for the 'rough' texture of Breyer's, but I don't care for the current crop of 'frozen desserts' on the market either. there are plenty of other choices out there for 'natural' ice cream, Turkey Hill is popular around here.

    Can't cut straight with Jigsaw

I've always found a jigsaws blade to bend slightly inwards when making curves; slowing down helps. for notching for a deck, I would use a sawzall or a circular saw.

wicked oil leak '93 camry, had to go to a pro

my 296K mile wondercamry had developed a wicked oil leak on the back of the engine, soaked and destroyed a control arm bushing, and for that it failed state safety inspection. I wound up replacing both control arms, ball joints and sway bar links (good thing, because although they didn't fail...

remind me never to go to small gas stations

ok, so I knew I had to get gas, but thought I had enough to get to work, and the light only 'just' came on... anyway, she stumbled a bit coming to a stop and I didn't think I had enough gas to get to the station I usually go to, so I stopped at a closer station. first pump says 'super 93 only'...

Just had an uncommanded acceleration '11 Ecoboost

I can always tell the left foot brake people on the road; their brake lights are on VERY dangerous for other drivers, your brakes might not be on, but your foot is resting on the pedal enough that the lights come on.

ipad mini. awesome. that is all.

there is always the 'I'm going to wait for the new one' syndrome, but unless there are serious flaws with the 1st version, you have to 'buy in' at some time; there will ALWAYS be a 'new' one. the screen quality is awesome. I think the regular ipad is too big. I played with a friend's nexus 7...

ipad mini. awesome. that is all.

never thought about jumping into the whole apple thing, avoided it really. then I went to see how mini the ipad mini is/was. it isn't. it's perfect. wanted the entry level 16g, they didn't have it (of course). but my wife says 'why don't you just get the 32g?' I did. and as I said, it's awesome...

    Odd thing that I've noticed...

I sold cars for a little while, and one thing I learned is that the lender and the F&I guy are in cahoots. the bank never really loses money, they make all their money right up front. another thing I learned is that people buy cars they really can't afford (duh!) and are really only concerned...

Front wheel drive winter tire reminder......

I agree that all cars should use FOUR winter tires; however, if someone uses just winters on the front of a FWD car, and they take it easy, slow and steady, they will probably be fine. as with AWD and 4WD where people think they are invincible, winter driving requires careful driving, leaving...

    Defunt stores

seems wherever a Service Merchandise was, it was next to a Toys R Us. I remember the thrill we got going on vacation in PA from NY and buying clothes at Ames, no sales tax on clothes in PA (still isn't!) while sales tax on everything in Long Island was always 7 or 8% or higher for as long as I...

Korvette's (dept store) two guys (dept store) Pergaments (maybe not spelled right) Clover (dept store too) US-1 (auto parts) but notice how most of them are dept or home stores? maybe the market was flooded? but the fact that so many left and so many new ones appeared shows the free market...
