Oem specified manual transmission oil superseded - Renault Elf NFJ 75W-80

@ceecbitog but that's the issue, NFJ and NFP are no longer available and have been replaced by NFX. More molybdenum sounds like a good thing? My only real understanding of that is that its a desirable thing when selecting engine oil for Toyotas. Not sure what less phosphorus means or where to...

Oem specified manual transmission oil superseded - Renault Elf NFJ 75W-80

Hi, I'm trying to decide what oil to use in the first manual transmission oil change that one of our fleet will be getting (2014 Dacia), its on the factory fluid with no issues at 40k miles. The owner's manual specifies "Tranself NFJ 75w-80 API GL4+" aka "Elf Tranself NFJ 75W-80 EP Semi...

    Potentially neglected Toyota 1NR-FE -- 0w20? Motul 8100 Eco-Lite?

The 1.33L isn't a performance motor of course, but at the moment it feels slower than what it is on paper, the reason I bring this up is the comment from another user in the second post I referenced: The Auris is a bigger and heavier class of car than the Yaris and its fitted with the same...

    Potentially neglected Toyota 1NR-FE -- 0w20? Motul 8100 Eco-Lite?

I am in the UK, 0w20 is becoming more common, certainly was a struggle when I first got the Suzuki some years ago, but the options aren't as vast, and a lot of the locally blended stuff carry no approvals whatsoever. Looking at Comma and Millers in particular. Castrol only does Edge 0w20 which...

    Potentially neglected Toyota 1NR-FE -- 0w20? Motul 8100 Eco-Lite?

Picked up a 2012 Yaris with the 1NR-FE 1.33L engine with no service history at 80k miles - took a gamble at a low price, its probably had some maintenance throughout its life, but it was a recovered vehicle so the paperwork was lost at some point. I've done an initial oc using Shell Helix...

    This actually escaped me, thanks!

Millers XF Longlife 0w20 Engine Oil

If you see the screenshot posted by @SlavaB you can see the 0w20 is the desired oil for all temperature ranges, but yes 5w30 would work in my application.

Millers XF Longlife 0w20 Engine Oil

We don't get -15C to be honest, but would presume better fuel economy and cold start protection from the 0w20.

Millers XF Longlife 0w20 Engine Oil

My next oil change in the 2011 Suzuki Swift 1.2L will be with this oil. Does anyone have any experience with it? DESCRIPTION: A high performance fully synthetic fuel efficient engine oil for makes such as Chrysler, Honda, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Proton, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota...

Ethylene Glycol: To OAT or non-OAT?

A bit of a bump, but just in case anyone else finds this and needs to read it... I found out that the original Suzuki coolant is made by Ecstar, its called "Super Coolant" and would have been green in colour (likely some kind of OAT) I ordered it from another Suzuki dealer and I ended up with...

    1ZZ-FE MR-2 (weekends and trackdays)

My MR-2 is my second car, I plan to do 2-3 track days this year and use it a few times a week on the road. I know it probably doesn't matter as it's just a Corolla engine, but I'm struggling to choose the oil. I have the following on my list: Castrol Magnatec Stop-Start A5 Engine Oil - 5W-30...

    Suction cup mount to plastic

No need for a metal plate, just search online for "dashboard mount disk" or "suction cup pad". They stick to the textured surface and provide a smooth surface for the suction cup.

Clay bar then TW ICE seal n shine?

I know it's done now, but I think it's a very expensive way to clay like that. I prefer to use my clean wash bucket with the suds leftover from the wash to clay. Dunk the clay bar into the bucket and clay away, the car is already wet from the wash so It's just as good, if not better. Plus, you...

Old Car, low mileage. What original fluids would you change?

I change all fluids and filters with any car purchase, but I'll confess, I often neglect power steering fluid. I've only ever changed it once and it was using the turkey baster method over the course of a few weeks.

Best Silicone Type for Caliper Pins

I have acquired a bottle of Permatex 24125 (purple stuff) on my recent visit to the USA (yes this is what I do on holiday) as it's not available locally here in the UK. I got it based on Eric O's recommendation on South Main Auto Repair on YouTube, he swears he doesn't get come backs for brake...

Are there any ACEA A5/B5 5w40 oils?

When I was looking for oil recommendations a long time ago I understood that the newer ACEA standards are better and backwards compatible, so I thought that it would be better to use an A5/B5, so I was curious why it didn't exist. I use an A3/B4 5w40.
