My MR-2 is my second car, I plan to do 2-3 track days this year and use it a few times a week on the road. I know it probably doesn't matter as it's just a Corolla engine, but I'm struggling to choose the oil. I have the following on my list: Castrol Magnatec Stop-Start A5 Engine Oil - 5W-30 SPECIFICATIONS / INDUSTRY STANDARDS ACEA A1/B1, A5/B5 API SN ILSAC GF-4 Meets - Ford WSS-M2C913-C / WSS-M2C913-D Shell Helix Ultra Professional AF 5W-30 Specifications: API SL, ACEA A5/B5, Ford WSS-M2C913-C & WSS-M2C913-D, Jaguar Land Rover STJLR.03.5003 (meets the reuqiements of) Petronas Syntium 5000 AV Engine Oil - 5W-30 Specification SAE 5W-30 ACEA A3/B3/B4 ACEA C3 Performance API SN VW 504.00-507.0 Petronas Syntium 3000 FR Engine Oil - 5W-30 Specification SAE 5W-30 API SL/CF ACEA A5/B5 FORD WSS-M2C913-D RENAULT RN0700 Or should I seek out a 5W-40 ACEA A3/B4 (already using Shell of this spec in my other cars so could be convenient)? Is this better considering the abuse the engine will take on track? I don't plan to have a dedicated track oil so whatever is in there will stay in there for 6 - 12 months. Thanks in advance Edit: for UK climate

I have a 1ZZ-FE 1.8L in my 08' Corolla and I've almost always ran 5w30 as per the OM. The one time I ran 5w20 I did feel (butt dino) that it revved a bit more freely (Toyota back spec'd it for 5w20). I have run 10w30 a few times in warm weather with no issues. I think anything heavier than 30W would make it feel sluggish so I agree with Gokhan's recommendation of a good 10w30.
