2013 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0T - OCI and viscosity?

I had a 2011 KIA Optima 2.0 Turbo and currently own a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0T. I've used synthetic QS 5w-30 in both with great results. Hyundai/KIA filters are, in my opinion, the best for these engines. A buddy of mine is the Service Manager at the local KIA dealership. Hyundai and KIA are...

Oil Choice for Lowest Wear On Engine Timing Chain?

I had a 2009 Traverse and experienced the dreaded timing chain stretch. I treated that vehicle like a baby. I used QSUD since new, and changed it every 3500 miles. At 32,000 the Check Engine Light came on. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a stretched timing chain. 2 weeks later, the chain was...

Brad Penn FSGF (Full Synthetic Global Formula)

Anyone heard of this? Any Good? Searching the web results in very little info. The bottle claims it meets GM Dexos Certification, but it's not on GM's list of Dexos oils.

    Brad Penn Full Synthetic

I wasn't planning on doing a UOA only because I have barely enough for an oil change. The bottle claims full synthetic. Just wondering if it was a good oil. Not much info out there on this. I've googled it but very limited info.

    Brad Penn Full Synthetic

I have searched high and low on the forum for any comments, good or bad, for Brad Penn synthetic oil. Not many comments at all. Why no love for this oil? Is it just hard to find? Something wrong with it? Should I avoid it? I was given a partial case of this oil and was planning on trying it in a...

    brad Penn conventional oil

I'm using Brad Penn full synthetic and it's great. My turbo Hyundai loves the stuff. I've also used the semi synthetic 5w-20 in my KIA forte. I think both oils are great. Use Brad Penn with confidence.

Is using Dino a NO NO in a Turbo?

Thanks for everyone's input. The consensus seems to be tilted towards using synthetic over dino. I think I will spend the extra money and use synthetic. It's a fun car to drive and it's hard to not put your foot into the gas. We plan on keeping this incredible car for a while, so I guess...

Is using Dino a NO NO in a Turbo?

Kia recommends a 3k OCI for the turbo 2.0 engine. I have heard they are pretty hard line when it comes to warranty work. Extended OCIs are not an option. That, in a nutshell, is the reason for my original question. Is 3k OCI on a good quality conventional the same as a 5k or 6k OCI on synthetic...

Is using Dino a NO NO in a Turbo?

I have posted before that I have a new Optima Turbo. I am trying to wrap my head around the need for Synthetic Oil in this car. The manual recommends any SM or higher rated oil in 5w-30 or 5w-40 flavors. I plan on 3000 mile OCIs due to it being Turbo. Is using a good Dino, like QS, Pennzoil or...

Rotella T6 OK for Turbo Optima?

I emailed Shell and asked them about using Rotella T6 in the Optima. I would like to share the response. The Shell Chemist does NOT recommend Rotella in the Optima. Jeff, Shell Rotella T Full Synthetic Oil SAE 5W-40 does not meet the requirements of ILSAC GF-4 or better. ILSAC GF-4 requires...

Rotella T6 OK for Turbo Optima?

Q-Pete, Where did you find the zinc spec for the rotella? I went onto Shell's website, but I was unable to find any specs on it. The Shell site is not very consumer friendly. Not like their Pennzoil or QS sites. I would like a spec sheet so I can compare it to Pennzoil and QS synthetics. Thanks.

Rotella T6 OK for Turbo Optima?

I posted in another thread that I was on the hunt for an oil for my turbo Optima. Kia recommends 5w-40 for the Turbo Optima. I found 5w-40 Rotella T6 at walmart today. It seems to be geared towards commercial truck use. Will this oil harm the 4 cylinder turbo in my Kia? I stumbled on a few other...

2011 Kia Optima SX Turbo- Recommendations?

Any dino recommendations for the new Kia Turbos? Its a 280hp DI 4 banger so I have a feeling its gonna be rough on oil. I say Dino because the manual, as well as the onboard computer say 3k oci. 5w20 is recommended for "optimal fuel economy", but the manual states I can run up to a 40 weight...

Synthetic better suited for DI engines?

We own a 2009 Traverse with the 3.6 DI engine. I've been using plain QS green bottle 10w-30 since day 1 (we now have 24,000 miles on her). Runs very good, and is very quiet. I subscribe to the old school OCI of every 3k miles. I have heard these engines are hard on oil. I figured getting rid of...
