A friend just purchased a 07 Yaris. Does it share the same engine as the ECHO? Should he expect any sludge problems? What's a good oil recommendation for the Yaris?

After searching on "synthetics" I think the consensus is that you can have longer OCI's, but don't expect better mpg.

Just switched from Syntec to MC 5w-20. Got oil changed yesterday at the dealership and they beat the price of all the local quickie lubes.

Is it alright to run the same oil for 9 or 10 months if it takes that long to reach 3k miles?

A friend has a Lumina that has a strong gas smell when starting and sometimes at idle, but it doens't run rich, e.g. no black smoke. Any ideas what causes this?

thooks, I'm questioning DINO capabilities at 10k more than Honda's reputation for reliable vehicles.

Perhaps Honda thinks it can sell more cars by recommending "a less than optimal" OCI sticking with the low maintenance theme.

When I thougth WIX made the best filter I spent the better part of the day trying to track one down. In reality a ST filter would have served just fine.
