How Old Is Your Lawn Mower(s)?? And How Many Hours Approximately?

Wow that brings back memories. My first push mower back in 1996 or 1997, but mine had the small back wheels and was rear discharge. That 6.25 HP Tecumseh was revolutionary coming from a 3.5 Briggs flathead. Seems like everyone in the neighborhood had one in the late 90s. Served us well up...

How Old Is Your Lawn Mower(s)?? And How Many Hours Approximately?

Also a JD 318, 1986 with just under 800 hours. And a 1969 JD 140 H3 with untold hours, rebuilt by previous owner. Both are incredible workhorses, I wish I had more grass to cut with them.

How Old Is Your Lawn Mower(s)?? And How Many Hours Approximately?

Snapper self propelled from ~2004, put a castor wheel kit on it recently. 7 hp Intek, wild guess is around 250 hours. Used extensively with a 7 year vacation in the middle. Recently picked up a V212 Snapper aluminum deck with a Kawi 5 hp repower. Runs great, plenty of power for bagging or...

    Reuse of former military bases

What underground lake? I'm currently stationed at Dover, and thankfully a few miles away living off base. A quick Google search pulled up some landfills with toxic chemicals on base, but no large quantities of jet fuel. Curious as to what you're referring to. Thanks!

Went to get mower parts and saw this at the dealer. Good thing I don't keep large amounts of cash sitting around.

Do you usually sharpen or buy new blades?

My snapper Ninja mulching blades are up to about 50 bucks. I feel your pain.

Do you usually sharpen or buy new blades?

I wouldn't. Vibration will be bad, and it won't self-center. Even if you got it perfect, it could slide out of alignment during normal operation. Blades need the proper arbor mating surface to run properly.

Helped a neighbor today and cut her grass as she prepared for her birthday party. Was rewarded with gas money and birthday cake. She is a professional baker/cake maker, so needless to say I was more than happy to help out. First time trying out the new turf tires on the machine. 1969 JD 140...

    United Airlines Places Orders for 100 787s + 100 Options, Orders 56 737MAX + 44 Exercised Options

Late to the party in replying to this post; however, I'm an AMC warrior and United is very favorably considered among those about to depart active duty. Their mil to civ hiring process seems to be one of the better options out there.

    Mower Deck Spindles

Yup, mower decks are a weird item ... impossible to sell because no one wants them, impossible to buy because no one tries to sell them. I had to buy a whole tractor to get the deck ... and it was around 550 for the tractor plus a parts tractor. Made up the difference selling the extra tractor...

    Mower Deck Spindles

I did the exact same thing. Once you start, you can't but do it the right way. Even got some reinforcement rings for under the deck, since I like to cut tall weeds and grass around my property.
