I sent a message to Fram where I inquired about the availability of a synthetic option for this application, and lamented that FCA is charging $75 for a Chinese-made cellulose filter.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing the inquiry with Fram. I did order a Fram CH11794 filter from Rock Auto. It comes from a Grand Prarie, TX warehouse. Since it comes from Texas you'd think I'd have it in a few days, but I guess the DHL/USPS delivery can't figure out how to move a small box 160 miles in less than three days.
I also will be ordering a Hengst E216H-D301 from National Fleet Parts. The other filter I'm planning on ordering and dissecting is the Prime Guard POF 8157 from Diesel-filters.com.

Wouldn't be to hasty on the FRAM Ultra.
They can make some junk when it comes to low production, specialty filters - diesels, Euro, and ag/heavy equipment applications come to mind.

Wix's cartridge style Camry filter is made there.
From what I read they were made in Poland.
