Stop your purchases, forget that new Tacoma or RAV4 or F150, the YUGO is back! I am not sure whether it will have writing under door panel: “the quality resembles the paycheck,” like some had, but the automotive world is declaring a comeback to good ole days!

I actually know some people involved in project, it is more of an independent idea. Actually this makes sense considering that Europe forgot how to make small cars.
There is some chatter that “Rimac” wants to buy Zastava brand.

Yugo was light (an understatement). I have seen serious vehicles being picked up by wind here in CO.
This YUGO must have modern platform and engines to be sold in EU. So, weight will be definitely on par modern vehicles of that size.

On September 22, 1989, Leslie Ann Pluhar died when her car, a 1987 Yugo, plunged over the 36-inch-high (91 cm) railing. High winds were initially blamed, which was not supported by recorded wind speed measurements taken on and around the bridge at the time of the accident. Later investigation showed the driver lost control due to excessive speed and her vehicle bumped the bridge's 4-inch-high median and then crossed back through the northbound lanes, hitting a curb, jumping an outer guardrail and falling off the bridge.

Bet it will be a rebranded mitsubishi mirage with a boxier body and I have zero problem with that. It's a great reliable and simple little car. Cvt lasts forever if you take the 5 minutes needed to do spill and fills. Has a normal single drain bolt and trans dip stick.

I would not discount it that fast.

The Yugo name carries no weight except in nostalgia feels, and not good ones. It would be a novelty purchase, done ironically. No one is going to come up with the financing to build a car using that business model.
