Your Seafood Dinner

It's been 5 years ago but I went to a dive right off Flagler Beach in Palm Coast FL and they had all you can eat snow crabs for $35.....

The menu was torture....everywhere were warnings that if you shared the crab legs you would be tossed out on your head....😆

It was over the top.......

In 1982 at age 17 years old a buddy and I were thrown out of an all you can eat snow crab deal in Delray Beach Florida , for ordering to many crab legs. I think I got PTSD from that… and avoid all you can eat seafood offers.

I usually get some sort of fish whether it be tilapia, salmon, trout, catfish, perch, white fish or whatever. And usually it’s anywhere from $15-$30 depends if it’s fried or broiled or grilled if it’s salmon. Usually try to get fried shrimp with it too. Always water to drink no sodas at restaurants unless included with the meal. That’s for the local place but I prefer Long John Silvers because their batter is amazing.
We need to find you a nice woman that will clean and cook the fish you catch. No more tilapia for you.

Generally only five seafood items I will order out

Lobster tail
Whole fresh red snapper
Shrimp cocktail
Lobster roll
Crab cake

Any other seafood I will cook at home, not order from a restaurant for numerous reasons.

I share your trauma, when I was 17 some buddies and I were kicked out of the Pizza Hut lunch buffet for eating too much pizza. We were singled out because we were young, everyone else had their eyes on the door to the kitchen ready to jump on the next pie they brought out.

Post #27 just showed me that my keyboard is drool-proof.

There's too much to say about seafood out (ordered in a restaurant).

Just a lament: I packed personal activities into crazed weekends in Texas during a training course.
In Houston visiting a seldom seen uncle and aunt, I was shown FANTASTIC hole-in-the-wall seafood restaurants.
I regret not noting them.
There's nobody left to ask.

Florida doesn't do seafood very well on average. Of course I'm coming from the Chesapeake bay area...

A friend told me that about 20 years ago as they were from Baltimore...
I found it to be true...

Unless really high end west coast is the worst.

That said you can find good stuff and DIY

Several seafood restaurants around me, including 2 Red Lobsters. The one in town is Silver Bay Seafood, and I usually gravitate to the shrimp platters. Hot boiled with a side of fish, your choice, and either grilled, broiled, or fried. Coleslaw and a vegetable side is under $20 sans drinks.

Absolute favorite place used to be a tiny hole in the wall right on the Potomac River called Tim's Rivershore in Dumfries VA. I knew the owner (Tim Bauckman) very well and had been going there since it was just the little dockhouse on the shore . Was also there on the the saddest day, when they closed after 28 years. Pushed out by development in that part of Prince William County. Always sat and let them dump pots of Jimmies on the craft paper covered table, washed down with some ice cold beer. We would sit around and eat for hours. Never remembered the cost, but they had the most reasonable prices on crabs of anywhere around.

When in the Outer Banks, I stay away from all the seafood places and go right to Billy's Seafood in Collington. NC mediums were about $8 a pound last time I was there, and they would steam and spice the way you wanted for a couple bucks more. Grab some really cold IPAs from the Brew Thru and hit the back deck. Watching the ocean while enjoying all that is the penultimate definition of living 😁.
