You gotta read this from the Ca DMV!

Thank you, EU. Take your RoHS and shove it. Teach your pedestrians how to cross a street successfully like my 8 year old nephew can. California is evidently catching up to you. If you can't be a _good_ influence, I'm going to send a box of raccoon poop to the UN and another to Brussels.

Hugs and kisses,
MiddleAmerica

Besides whether or not ISO standards are useful or not -- and I didn't comment on that did I? the International Organisation for Standardization is a global organization; one of its members are the USA. ISO headquarters are in Switzerland, not in Belgium as you erroneously believe. I am clueless what street crossing skills and the UN have to do with it all. As for Middle America, you may want to check where that really is.

My reply as to how many weeks could possibly be in one year offered simply an explanation. I wasn't judging the system, which you obviously failed to realize in your rage. Cheers! :p

I suppose the mix of obviously silly Larry the Cable Guy humor and my half-serious complaints was too subtle or oblique to flash the dusty little spark gaps in your humor center.

Let's break it down:

Pb-free solder is notably less 'friendly' to work with and at this point has reliability concerns. Likely apocryphal, but I've heard that one car battery contains more lead that one year's worth of discarded consumer electronics.

Pedestrian injuries are apparently common enough in Europe to necessitate legislation that in part specifies the shape of the front end of cars for sale in the EU. My new Miata is an example. Honda's penchant for very low noses arguably met its end this way as well.

Making fun of California for silly/excessive legislation is a tired but still entertaining cliche 'round these parts (middle America as U.S. residents use the term). Making fun of the EU for the same reason is as well. The UN is a common target for militia fringe types.

As explained to me by various Larry the Cable guy types, the ISO standards are yet another onerous, all-but-impenetrable set of standards that really only make their work more inefficient. I have no idea and really don't need to care at this point.

My impression of many people on the coasts is that they view the entire interior of the U.S. as Larry the Cable guy, hence my quasi-informed, semi-illiterate tone. In fact, the world in general may view all of us that way. I'm just doing my part to keep them happy with their stereotype.

Did you really not get any of the funny and think I was entirely serious?

Yup, you generally come across as a raving rageaholic. Everybody knows I have absolutely no sense of humor.
