Got this old Yamaha EF2800 generator a few months ago from a friend and just got around to messing with it today. This was the end result. Cleaned the carb, drained the black oil and refilled with some QuickSilver 25W40 I had. Cranked up and ran for 2 seconds and shut off. My friend who was standing on the other side said oh oh look at this lol. Hey you win some you lose some. Im assuming it may have been damaged internally before I got it.

Bummer. Unless you can find a really cheap donor with which to mix/match and rebuild, it's obviously trashed. There's no logical way it would pay back to get OE new parts to fix that.
I put it by the curb and it was gone within an hour
Hey, it had an inspection hole. 
Don't let that ''friend'' who gave it to you borrow any of your stuff.
