Because people are obsessed with this stuff. I work in a library, and we see people sitting next to each other texting one another, or sitting at two computers chatting with one another. Nuts.

My neighbors wife (I guess she's my neighbor too
) says that she used text messaging while in class (education major). She says no one passes notes anymore. I wonder why anyone needs to communicate that desperately in class to begin with and at such a cost. She doesn't see anything odd about it. I guess I'm just not in touch with my feminine side...at least to that extent.
