Not for many years. It is gasoline engine rated as well, not just a diesel oil.

or your preferred method. the subaru TSB for cleaning valve deposits involves spraying a PEA-based cleaner into the intake manifold via a vacuum line or MAP sensor hole, PEA-based fuel additive in the gas tank, followed by an italian tune-up.Walnut blasted?
Good lort, I was not expecting to spark up some controversy![]()
this thread is downright cordial tbh. wait til you ask about which filter is ok to use!Good lort, I was not expecting to spark up some controversy
Looks like the general consensus is clean, full oil, and monitor frequently. Looks like Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 is the easiest to find here, or order from Walmart easy. Might order the 3 5qt pack from Walmart and use it in the WRX and Tacoma with the little 4 cylinder turbo.
Dumb as it sounds, despite the AWD system I won't drive it much in the winter mess we get. It will see most of its miles in the warmer months.
It's basically this. This is BITOG friend, if someone started a thread entitled, "Is water REALLY wet???" there would be BITOG spelling expurts coming out of the woodwork to argue with every last little trivial nuance.
I call it the sickness of correctness and it has infected much of the internet and society.
I'm sure the 5w30 is a fine oil, and it has similar stringent approvals, but many here favor the 0w30 due to its ester content. Same price. I would use it in both too.Good lort, I was not expecting to spark up some controversy

this is the real shame. a subaru on winter tires is like driving a supercar in the winter.Dumb as it sounds, despite the AWD system I won't drive it much in the winter mess we get. It will see most of its miles in the warmer months.

fair, it is terrible working on my car. I should probably do krown or fluid film but the real killer is the jesus bolts on the knuckles. nothing stops corrosion getting in, any suspension job is a nightmare.Maybe once I get some new tires. The Hankooks that are on there really don't get good winter reviews. That and all the salt. I guess I could Woolwax the underside when I change the rear diff and transmission oil.
Truth! I love smashing around in the rare snow we get on the A/T tiresthis is the real shame. a subaru on winter tires is like driving a supercar in the winter.
I see those temps too sometimes. I forget how high it got when I drove to FL but it wasn't supper high. Maybe 230 max? Maybe? I have the 2018 Legacy with the 2.5. I've been using Mobil 1 Extended Performance for 90% of its life.Agree 100%. Oil temperature is key. My 18 Outback oil temp is around 230f+ often. ESP 0w30 handles it like a champ.
