Long story , short .... While changing the oil in my Kohler engine I refilled with 5w-30 Pennzoil Platinum . Apparently I purchased it by mistake as I usually buy PP 10w-30 . Should I drain and put the correct oil in it or is it close enough and ok to finish what's left of the mowing season ?

The reason I'm asking is because I looked in the manual and 5-30 is only recommended at cold temps . Kinda weird the way they show it .

Keep an eye on the oil level some oils may have higher consumption. For the first time I used 5W-30 Quaker state ultimate syn in my 10 year old lawn mower . The consumption wasn't much different than running 5W-40 or 15W-40, so again just keep an eye on the oil level you are good to go.

It all depends who write the manuals. Mostly they depend to behind in what oils are out there, but mostly, oil recommendations are geared towards using the manufacturer's labeled oil.
When they tell you to use 10w30, they would consider that you would pick up the cheapest conventional 10w30 oil and that was likely written 30-40 years ago. So your Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 is so much better and will hold up better than that conventional 10w30 from 30-40 years ago.

Long story , short ....

I have a Kholer in my Husq lawn tractor... with only 70 hrs.. i got it second hand.. and its been hugely problematic... thats the short of another long story.. ill spare you all the boring details..
If you have PP 5-30... run it... the Kholer wont know the difference for 1 OCI.. revert 10-30 for your next OCI

It will work perfectly fine. I've run 5w30 synthetic in my John Deere's V-Twin Kohler Command before during the winter without issue. For warmer temps a 5w30 will be fine you'll just have to monitor oil consumption. Some engines won't have any, and some will have increase consumption with a 5w30. It really depends on the particular engine.
