Or would you be concerned about the reception Americans might get due to the disruptions in world trade caused by US policies? Would you stay with canned tours with guides and groups of people or do a self guided type vacation? What you might have done 1year or 10 years ago vacation wise isn't of interest, things are different right now.

It's a tough ask but this is not about politics or parties or individuals, what happened and is happening is real right now. There's some interest in our house to do something we've never done. I'm okay with that but not interested in going where we might not be welcome. i'm mostly a better safe than sorry kind of person.

Overblown at the individual level actually. The press, ignore it.

Guide? No.

Depends on where and your travel style type but we have never used a guide, BIL and SIL always expensive tours. Neither of us had a problem

I work in the EU -
the crap in the so called news never comes up …

What? you lost all your Canadian Maple Leaf lapel pins? you know the ones all the 'Mericans wear in Europe?

This Canadian is travelling in Europe this year and not going south.
Technically, Canada, Mexico and a bunch of other countries are in Americas, North, Central and South ones. In most countries outside USA residents don't associate US gov with US citizens unless they act a certain way.
Personally, I'd love to go visit Austria, Hungary and Slovakia.

No.

I lived in a european country for a year and traveled to several more a bit. I would not now. It wouldn't be anything like I remembered and enjoyed.
The Europe of today is not the Europe of the last century. Not even close.

In 2015 I was working in Munich. Like all visitors to Munich, I went and visited the downtown. A very magical place. Yet, walk just a quarter mile outside of the central Munich downtown (tourist) district, not a single business sign was in Hochdeutsch (Standard German). Every sign was in revised Arabic Script (Turkish Alphabet). Most every cook in many urban areas in Western Europe will be from a non European nation.

Not discouraging a trip to Europe, but one should understand a trip to Western Europe is not the Western Europe of yesteryear. I think a trip to Eastern Europe, such as Poland, might provide a more authentic European experience.

Thanks for your perspective!
I would be thinking the same thing, but I don’t have the experience you do.

I’m sure the general population of all countries could care less about government disagreements, and negotiations between friendly nations.
Not too many people are madly in love with their government more than the people they interact with.

When I meet foreigners here in the USA, I don’t think to associate them with their government and country, but more interested in them as people and I am sure most everyone would agree.

It’s the media that makes us feel divided. That is their job to keep you tuned in and miserable.

The media's mission is to make sure they don't have competition and maintain barriers to entry.

There is a reason millions of Americans who never watch ESPN are required to pay ESPN $7-$10 per month and millions of Americans have indirectly been forced to pay this bounty to ESPN for many years.

+1, I lived in Italy for a year.

The main reason I hesitate to return ⬆️, I was there last in 2010. Further, the fact that the $ 🇨🇦, will kill me when exchanged to 💶🇪🇺

I think I'll keep visiting 🇺🇸

Zero concerns for my trip to Italy
When were you there last?

No.

Lots of anti American feelings towards us….
Lots of German young men are scared to death of being conscripted to serve in the German military to defend their nation. These young German adults counted on the American taxpayers and American military to do defend Germany and neighboring European nations for decades. Free lunch is reportedly ending.

German youth's solution to solve defending their nation. Hire middle eastern and African young men, the local German young adults can't be bothered or inconvenienced.

Without hesitation....

For the most part, any idiot who would give you grief over the current situation, as if you have any real say in the matter or they know your leanings, would have been a problem at another time for some other ridiculous grievance.
