would you use this oil in your car?

Best reason in the world, I kicked the every day drudge to the curb at 55 and have never looked back...

Maybe I missed it but what weight is this J/D oil???

The oil is 10w30. I believe it might be made by cheveron and probably is pretty close in formula to cheveron supreme.
J.D has switched suppliers a few times , but the dominant supplier through the years has been chevron.

If anyone has the real answers , I'm all ears.

Congratulations on being able to retire early and for looking for bargains where you can -- but it's still a stretch to start using lawnmower oil of unknown background in an automobile, even a high mile beater.

Geezus, it's SM/GF-4 oil, no doubt meets specs for automotive service...

Most seem to think a oil speced for a lawnmower is inferior to a automotive engine... Truth is on a hot summer day that little air cooled guy is running far hotter than in most any automotive application... I measured head temp on a old Briggs I was running and at shutdown it was at 308* and temp on the block at the valve cover was 276*... Try running you car/truck that hot and see how long it lasts...

If it meet API, and ILSAC specs, I'm sure it will be fine.
However 5qts of QS Green Bottle is only 13 bucks at Wally's.

Get real, while they run hot (I have an air-cooled 911, and understand heat soak), most lawn equipment I am familiar with runs at or below 2,500 RPM when maxed out. All the oil has to deal with is heat.

That's for sure. Maybe I should be using mower oil in my old VW?
I guess I might use that in a regular car, but I like to stick to my tried and true regulars.

Last I heard in my area, Northland (a small local blender) bottles it for them. This came from my friend who worked at a Deere dealer - but honestly I can't say with 100% certainty now...

As for the oil and the nay-sayers - look at it from a realistic point it's an SM oil. Last I checked, that's good enough for quite a few cars (gas powered) on the road made before 2010...

I say run it.

In a 93 Corolla with space ship mileage I'm pretty sure any oil that's slippery will work just fine. Go for it!

Seriously, there is saving money, stretching OCI's, and finding good prices on oil, then there is batSh1+ crazy. No offense

Perhaps You should rethink YOUR craziness. Lately, I bought 15 quarts of amsoil transmission fluid for $50. I bought 5 quarts of toyota 0w20 + 2 filters for $10. I bought 10 toyota brand oil filters for $10. Gallons of supertech 5w30 for .50. Numerous quarts of various weight oil for 50 cents.
When my sons friends come over and are 2 quarts low, who do you think fills them up for free.
So my friend, I do not get offended . So with my little crazyness and some smart investing I am able to be done working at age 53 and play with my toys .
This is just another hobby that at times makes some serious cash and saves me a ton of money.
Yes , when the apocalypse comes ,I will be well prepared..
Good luck to you.

With the spelling and punctuation in your posts, I have to say you are one lucky man then--enjoy

Hey Chad
That may have sounded a little harsh-it wasn't meant to be.
Seriously, now that you have the time and economic means-have you thought about helping some of those less fortunate than yourself? There are many, in today's society.
