Would You Run 5w-20 on a Vehicle Earmarked for High Miles ?

I don't mind the transmission, but I'm not as discerning on that kind of thing.

I am surprised how smooth the engine is at >5000 rpm...just keeps putting out the power as long as you push down on the pedal. My other car is pushrod and gives the power up front, kind of fades w/ higher RPM.

FWIW, I really think I'm just going to follow the 'manufacturer' recommendations via the idiot light. At some point it comes down to 'do you trust your car company'...guess I do until screwed otherwise
