Would you buy a new BMW F850 for nearly 16 large knowing that the engine is from China ?

Out of curiosity where do you buy your parts from
I bought a oil change kit from a long time BMW dealer online. $69.00 shipped to my door two years or so ago. It's $78 now. I used my $100 in Ebay bucks from a luxury watch purchase.

beemer boneyard ?

Perhaps someone will post what the cost of a major service is up to these days .

Is the S1000RR also not a "real BMW moto" then?

To me it is NOT a 'real' beemer-too many cylinders which do not protrude in the proper manner coupled to a disgusting chain and an engine which reached 225*f (about the 22:30 time during the vid) but at nearly $22,000 usd (?) I am certain it comes with unlimited discounted visits to a chiropractor during the warranty.

If you were able to ride only ONE bike for the rest of your riding life would you really choose this model ?

To the bolded, did anybody ever imply that to begin with...?

The rest of your post is hilarious. It's a world class machine, one of the best BMW has ever produced.

disgusting chain

Granted chains are a pain but heavy and expensive shafts are not the answer... only Gates cog tooth belts spell relief...

Belts have many benefits over chains..
they are lighter in weight...
they last about 3 times longer...
they don't need lube...
they don't have annoying chain snatch...
they cost less than chain...

Lightest weight...
1 belt
2 chain
3 shaft

Best efficiency...
1 belt
2 chain
3 shaft

Lowest maintenance...
1 belt
2 shaft
3 chain

Most expensive...
1 shaft
2 belt
2 chain

Least amount of drive line snatch...
1 belt
2 shaft
3 chain

Biggest vocal following...
1 shaft
2 chain
3 belt

RC45 belt drive mock up...

Most people think that BMW stands for Bavarian Motor Works but those of us who own them know that it really stands for Bring More Wallet.:)

I've got a few older BMWs and my newest is now 16 years old but I still like to ride them and I'll stop riding when they no longer bring a smile to my face when I twist the throttle.

Here's how I feel about BMW: The Germans compete in a global economy and have a high standard of living. They can't compete with the Chinese by making a cheaper widget and they are a country of engineers so they are generally at or near the forefront of leading technology.

Sometimes the new technology is great and sometimes it just falls flat but that's what they have to do to compete in todays world. Here is my 16 year old GS with 97,000 miles...

Fair enough however there is no excuse for not disclosing what major components are not from the Fatherland and for habitually not doing the right thing for the customer when their engineering falls flat and hard - fuel tanks are just one example.

However you think of it; Bring More Wallet, Bring Much Wallet, Bring Many Wallets or Bring Much Wampum it really is ugly owning a BMW bike or car for that matter.

As Friday has raced around again it is time once more to drink much Zywiec, consume many poppers and ponder the great question; is the direction of rotation cw or ccw ?

When you take your bike to a dealer for service which one is it?

Sierra BMW in Sparks, NV? They’re a big BMW motorad dealer with competitive online prices for parts.4
Sorry folks I was way off. I purchased a single qt from a Canadian BMW dealer off Ebay in Vancouver BC. The oil change kit came from MaxBMWmotorcyclesCT on Ebay. I was only 3000 miles off. Think I need a nap or a walk. The $73.00 price was what I paid. It is now $79

If this was directed at me, I have bought very few parts for the new bike. My biggest expense so far is the $73 oil change kit and 2 cans of DuPont Chain Wax ($14) a gallon of Kerosene ($7). A new front tire is coming soon.
