I could not agree more with all of your statements. It is a complex equation when dealing with the global economy and the timing of other nations rise in standard of living. We see your 2/3 quality scenario on a daily basis, and what's worse is that trying to purchase the 2/3 quality murchandise or service is a 50/50 proposition at best that you will receive what you are paying for without having to go back and forth over any number of issues. Personaly, just last week I received a pair of new SACHS front struts for my GM car from a popular online retailer of genuine GM parts. The spring pads were upsidedown which made the struts worthless. When I looked closer at the label, the struts from my car were made in the US, the replacement struts were made in Mexico, and now I will be without my car for a few weeks no doubt to get the correct parts that I paid for long ago.

Thanks,
Jason

Yes. This is the biggest challenge in global economies. 3rd world types have a whole new definition of how one does business. Buyer beware is their true product for sale. What occurs more often than not is that the remedy (purposely configured that way as a matter of course) is always too cumbersome to resolve over just dropping back and punting. Returning and recurring relationships aren't part of the package. Too frequently you're going to be dealing with a new (it could be the same, renamed and relocated) outfit and the intermediary (the procurer - YOU) has to field the collateral damage in costs/losses.

It works out eventually, but there's a long row to hoe for those who are on the front end of the learning curve in international 3rd world commerce.

We're just too used to people and businesses doing what they allege that they're supposed to do. Toasters are assumed to have the capability of producing toasted bread and do so with reasonable and predictable performance. This is not the case in some parts of the world. They merely have to qualify as appearing to be able to toast bread and sell at a low price.

Just an update on the 6.0 powerstroke oil filters.

Couple of days ago i was at a buisness that has several of the 6.0 powerstroke trucks.
They change their own oil, and had Baldwin filters on their shelves.
I went to check out one of the number P7235 ps filters and........ lo and behold!!
MADE IN THE USA!!
Very nice!

When i asked my Baldwin guy about this, he claimed he had not had any of the P7235's in stock for almost a year, and they might have changed their sources.
Good job Baldwin!

My stance, the importer or company labeling the product is 100% responsible to ensure OEM specification quality standards. Isn't that the point of ISO & QS standards?

every day here there are reports of more and more wix filters made in china and mexico.

I think I am begining to lose faith in wix.
