I have the Wix 24348 on my gasoline tank in the boat.
My carb was continually clogging up with some grey paper like dust, when wet looks like extremely fine pulp, when dry is a dust like grey powder.
So I put a purolator F29160 right in front of the carb. This filter is now clogging up and makes me think the wix 24348 is passing or shedding tiny paper fibers.

A Baldwin BF915 or a purolator F59016 crosses to the Wix 24348
I found the Baldwin BF915 at truckhelp.com for a very good price. I feel like the purolator since it can catch this grey dust is going to work but cant seem to find it online. Will the Baldwin BF915 work as well as Purolator?

Any thoughts on this grey dust? It dries to a powder, not sticky.

pictures showing this grey stuff sludge which the purolator F29160 is now catching and which would formerly clog the carb.

Advance can get the pur F59016 for $7.79 a little higher the Baldwin. Since I know the purolator F29160 is catching this, I think it would be good idea to stick with a purolator F59016.

Tanks are monel metal which is nickel and copper.
All lines are A1 rubber nylon barrier typ USCG approved.
Plus assorted brass valves and fittings.

When the F29610 which has a small metal can and fits in a rubber line to the carb clogs, I can take it off and flush it backwards and get going again.
The very large main filter should not allow that dust whatever into the fuel line. So I am thinking some kind of defect in the filter.

After I started using Stabil Marine gas preserver, the carbs stay clean, no more grey dust. The grey dust is metal corrosion of pot metal parts.
Very glad no more of that crud appearing.
So an update.
