WIX 51522 off of the 2005 Tahoe with a cammed LQ4 6.0 swap. OCI was about 4,600 miles on Mobil 1 Euro FS 0W-40.

Date code of this filter is hard to see, but it was from a MasterPack box of all 2021s. Filter looks really good. One of my first to cut open. I have no complaints. Pleats all look good, crimps look good, no tears.

A WIX 51042 from 2020 went back on along with some Castrol GTX HM 10W-40.

Also, on a side note... really, REALLY like this Mobil 1 Euro FS 0W-40. I have SO much oil on hand, but when I am through all of that, I think I'd just buy this from now on.

More filter cuts to come!

Nice cut and post and great photos. I Thank You. All I’m using is Delvac 1 ESP 5w40 and FS M1 0w40 too 👍🍺🇺🇸🇨🇦

Haven't seen a string on the media for a while. That oil looks surprisingly clean for 4.6k in an SUV. This filter looks great. We'll see what you come out with next cut & post.
i dont recall ever seeing a M+H filter with a string (basing it off of the ADBV to be M+H). that oil still looks like it came out of the jug lol

My thoughts too. I was impressed by color alone. While I know that isn’t the end all, be all, tell tale. Below is a pic of the dipstick before I changed it. The truck don’t burn any. This is the level I left it at last change. Also this has TONS of remote starts on it too.

First time running an Euro oil. And I’m impressed.

I will say this was one impeccably clean junkyard motor when I swapped it in. Probably about 145k on the long block at this point.

my cammed LQ4 is like that aswell. oil stays clean right up to 5k then it goes black and MM goes off. my oil level never moves. im at 236k atm

What cam specs?

*edit* changing the PUP+HPL EC 30 on friday to 6 quarts of HPL PCEO 5W-40. this OCI is very dirty so im suspecting the EC has done something.

What cam specs?
205/217 with .500 lift and 112+2 LSA. It is a baby but still absolutely better than a stock cam. I wanted something that still had excellent manners on a stock converter.

LS6 valve springs, BTR V1 trunnion upgrade, LS2 injectors, MBRP 3” stainless catback with a Borla HD truck muffler.

Beyond that bone stock LM7 everything else including intake, manifolds and factory Y-pipe with cats.

It is nothing special but all in all a good runner with great torque punch and leaps and bounds better than a 5.3.

^^^^NICE!

Is the WIX 51042 shorter than this one posted? Just trying to see why the different part number filters.
Yes, exactly. The 51042 is the shorter one that’s always what’s called
For on these Gen 3 truck motors. I had a couple on hand that were older so figured I’ll use them up. I do prefer the longer 51522 and or PF61E in ACDelco world.

yes, anything larger than the factory LQ4 cam is an improvement. they left a lot of power on the table with that baby cam. 6.0 vs 5.3 is a massive upgrade in itself.

I have even a better part to this story. Long story short, truck was Mom’s — bought in 2016 with 170k. Original 5.3 wasn’t maintained by the previous owners that great and ate a couple of lifters around 230k. I had a low mile, 40k LR4 4.8 out of a van. Threw that in, in Jan 2018. So that is what had been in it until Feb/Mar 2023. Talk about gutless. With 3.42 rear and gear, it never got out of its own way.

But it ran good.

yea, 6.0 vs 4.8 isn’t even a competition
