Installed this filter on Thursday and made a trip to Arkansas on Friday without issue. Yesterday the lot guy started the truck to move it and noticed a massive fuel leak. I went to check it out this morning and found the gasket pushed out. It would spray fuel 3-4 feet off the side of the engine when h the hood was up. Never had this type of filter do this before. Local parts store exchanged it and got the new one on with no leaks. We’ll see if it holds. This is on an ISX Cummins.

No possibility of installation error? Possible gasket defect on WIX? Glad you found it quickly and probably will never happen again.

My error was my first guess but I did run my fingers around to make sure it didn’t roll. Plus this is very visible with only the hood up. Even if I did screw up I don’t see how I ran to Arkansas and back without issue the day after it was installed.

Both the parts counterman and I noticed that the gasket seemed swelled up. It was hard to get back in the first filter and not try to pop out. Maybe a bad gasket?

Still a bit early to lose the gasket & gasket not fully seated. Bad gasket alignment could've made the situation happen no matter what you tried. I think you done what you normally did & had no issues before so this is somewhat of a head scratcher.

Possibly wasn't fully seated into the channel all the way & allowed the gasket to slip out under a little pressure. If you could get some lube oil to put onto the Oring gasket should help & just do your best to press the gasket down inside the channel I think it'll be fine from here on out.

Thermal cycling is my guess. It is the same reason why o-ring connections can take a few cycles to leak. The thermal expansion of the materials causes there to be a gap and then the seal can't hold.

Just my $0.02
