When I check for updates I get a win10 download screen. If I click below it shows downloads for 7 but no where does it have a "install updates" only shows the win10 get it now button.

A little help for an old, frustrated oil guy please.

If you want to get rid of the "get Win10 download screen" for good, and permanently, go in and uninstall and then hide (Otherwise they will come back) these three updates:

KB 3035583
KB 3075249
KB 3080149

This should get rid of that "get Win10 download screen" and will also get rid of some privacy invasive updates that MS is trying to push onto Win7 and Win8 users. I have my Windows computer set up to only receive important updates automatically, so I never got the annoying Win10 download screen.

mine was doing that the other day as well. Then i went to the search bar , typed in update, chose windows update and it went to the regular screen. If i went through the browser it kept taking me to the win 10 page.

Why bother? I have been using 7 for years. Have not updated in 2 years. Zero problems. Once I had a nice stable version I turned updates and notifications off. Never looked back.

When the windows update page comes up that shows Windows 10..the top left corner it says Control panel home. Under that is Check for updates. Click there and it does what you are trying to do.

I had the Windows 10 update hidden months ago, and in the last week or so Microsoft is trying to push windows 10 again onto my computer because the same updates that I hid are now not hidden. Freaking spyware behavior.

I hid those updates months ago, and Microsoft in the last week or so Microsoft magically enabled them. Articles about it around the net. Spyware behavior at its finest.

There are more updates that have just recently been pushed onto consumers. I would advise to not let any update load unless you look at the update online from Microsoft and see what it does. One came down the pike today.
