will you get cremated or buried?

I have looked at this, http://www.lifequestanatomical.com/bodydonation.php

I hope it is OK to mention I am a Christian and have little concern for my ''discarded tent'' I will leave behind. My wife and I both lost a brother in law this year. Mine seemed to be a lost sheep. He was cremated and the service was in the firehall where he had served as an EMT.

My wife's was active in his church. His wife had a very showy funeral in a huge church. Many of our current funeral practices seem to be a misuse of resources to me.

I was upset at first when my mother died and my brother and sister didn't want to have a grave side service. Thinking about it more. The funeral was in a chapel in the basement of the church. A grave side service would have meant extracting many elderly people from the basement, loading them in cars, and then driving to the cemetery, unloading the people, packing them in the chapel there, loading them back in the cars, driving back to the church, down to the basement for the dinner. Instead, we walked down the hallways to the social room for the dinner. Our mother was gone. I really don't see that the trip to the cemetery would have honored our mother any more. Skipping it was a kindness to many that loved our mother.

As the King Crimson song goes "Dig Me, but don't Bury Me"

If I'm young enough, reuse my organs so that someone else will live. Then do whatever is cheaper. I learned how to answer this question from a family member just last year...

My almost-16yo cousin was killed in a car wreck in New Smyrna FLA last year. Her organs were donated to at least 7 people who now have a chance at a much healthier life. Her ashes were spread over the beach area there as that was her favorite place to be.

+1.

We waste too much land with burials. Plus, it's based on such an old tradition. Might be time to move away from that.

Somebody said this before bit it sums it up nicely for me:

"I want to be cremated with the ashes thrown in the nearest convenient garbage can."

As a cancer survivor, I don't think anyone will take my organs. So I've indicated I want my body donated to science if they need it. If not, toast me well done and do as you see fit with the ashes.

Being the cheapskate that I am, I can't see spending a ton of cash on all the trappings that go with the typical funeral.

If it costs more than $1000 to get rid of my mortal tent, then you've spent too much.

I want them to have the cheapest funeral for me. The rest thats leftover for booze for my reception. Funerals in my family are a big drunk fest.

Fire me up and spread me on the coast of my childhood. No need to waste a bunch of money or permanent space.. Burial, open casket funerals, embolming and all that stuff is creepy and wastefull.

I don't know if I'll have enough fat to sustain my own combustion and I surely wouldn't want any new fossil fuel used in the process.

Maybe they can fill me up with waste oil before ignition.

How would that be for a BITOG send off??

Check that. Then I'd be a hazardous material and require special handling

Gary, local bloke told me it's about 50 litres of kerosene per person for the cremation.

Even assuming the worst UOA on the board, the average head full of filling is prolly going to be worse.
